On Friday, November 7, Formula Student Bizkaia presented the new designs of the FSB2015.

The presentation started with the Business Case. The Organization Team showed all the work that they have already done related to it. The Business Case is one of the three static events that each team must fulfill in the competitions. It has to be emphasized that in 2003 FSBizkaia won this event and the objective for this season is to be among the three finalists.

The next group was Control & Telemetry. They gave details about the new sensors that will be installed in the car, in order to study every movement and to use this data for further ameliorations. The team presented the electronic design and distribution of the FSB2015 with the aim of being able to use the flywheel either with electronics or without it.

The Powertrain group showed the design of a new accumulator, which fulfills the new regulation. Another major theme was the transmission change, since we will pass from having a chain to a belt. They also talked about the high voltage cable optimization in order to reduce their section in half.

The next speaking was the Chassis Group; they focused their presentation on the design of the FSB2015’s monocoque. This will be manufactured with carbon fiber sandwich over a core of aramid. This is one of the team’s most ambitious plans for this season. They also showed the design of the new seat, which will be customized for each driver.

For this season the Suspension & Steering Group has designed a direction through universal joints that are supported with a carbon overlaminated rapid prototyping. At the same time, the suspension points have been changed with the ultimate aim of improving the dynamic of the car.

Finally, it was Corner’s turn. This group presented the new pedals that are adjustable through guides. Their design is based in an ergonomic study that was realized with the aim of finding the better position and angle for them.

After having designed all the components and securing their proper functioning, it is time to start building the FS2015!
